Belief #10. Experience of Salvation

In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Salvation means being saved from sins and receiving eternal life through God's gift, providing peace and security about the future. Accepting salvation identifies us as God's children, as illustrated in John 1:12. The ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who died to save us from eternal death, epitomises salvation. To embrace this gift, we demonstrate faith and allegiance to Him. Key aspects of salvation include understanding its true meaning, why humanity needs it, the steps towards salvation, the importance of repentance, and its impact on our lives.

God, in His infinite love, provided Jesus Christ to become sin for us so that we might become righteous. The Holy Spirit guides us to acknowledge our sinfulness, repent, and have faith in Jesus, which leads to being justified, adopted as God's children, and freed from sin's control. This faith is a gift of God's grace, empowering us to live holy lives and assuring us of salvation now and in judgment.

How Do We Accept Salvation?

Salvation is accepted through confessing with our mouth and believing in our heart. God truly wants us to accept His gift of salvation, forgives our past sins, and helps maintain a clean record with our acceptance. God's grace, an unmerited favour, is available to all who ask.

Repentance and Salvation

Repentance is crucial in salvation, leading us away from our sinful past and towards God’s grace. Like the story of the prodigal son, repentance allows us to return to God, who is always ready to forgive and welcome us back. True repentance focuses on acknowledging our need for salvation, and God promises to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Effect of Salvation

Salvation transforms our lives, offering hope and renewal. Through stories like the woman caught in adultery, Jesus demonstrates forgiveness and encourages a new, sin-free life. Our love for Christ leads us to obey Him—not for salvation, but as a response to His sacrifice. Despite our imperfections, God supports our growth and spiritual journey, ensuring we’re on the path to salvation.

Assurance of Salvation

We can be confident in our salvation by abiding in Jesus, supported by Scriptures that affirm God’s unwavering love and assurance of eternal life. Salvation is a continuous experience, nurturing our relationship with God through acceptance, growth, and transformation.

Understanding and accepting God’s salvation brings eternal assurance through Jesus Christ. By repenting and embracing God's love, we receive forgiveness and the promise of eternal life. Salvation transforms us, guiding us in God's loving plan for our lives, ensuring a future filled with His grace and joy.
