The term "church" might evoke images of a building or a gathering of people singing hymns. However, according to Scripture, the church is not about structures but about the community of believers in Christ. For Seventh-day Adventists, this belief is central to our mission of sharing the gospel and serving others.
  1. Definition of The Church: The church is the community of believers who confess Jesus as Lord. The Greek term "ecclesia" means an assembly of people, reflecting this community aspect.
  2. Leadership: While pastors and church leaders play vital roles, the ultimate authority is Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of the church.
  3. Biblical Metaphors:
    • Bride of Christ: Signifying Jesus's love and commitment.
    • Body of Christ: Illustrates diversity and the importance of each member's role.
    • Family of God: Viewing fellow Christians as brothers and sisters.
  4. Church During End Times: The faithful will stand out as holy and will be presented in splendor when Christ returns.
  5. Uplifting Believers: Adventist churches aim to be welcoming places where believers support each other in living for Jesus. Common activities include prayer, Bible study, outreach, and community service.
The essence of the church lies in its community of believers, united by faith in Jesus, serving and uplifting one another, and living according to His teachings.
