Belief #27. Millennium and the End of Sin

The millennium is the thousand-year reign of Christ with His saints in heaven between the first and second resurrections. During this time the wicked dead will be judged; the earth will be utterly desolate, without living human inhabitants, but occupied by Satan and his angels. After Christ's Second Coming, there is a 1000-year period called the Millennium when believers live in heaven, Satan is temporarily restrained, and the Earth is renewed. Revelation 20 says believers will "reign with Christ" during this time. But what does that entail, and what happens to those who didn't follow God?

The millennium is a thousand-year reign of Christ with His followers in heaven. During this period, the wicked dead are judged, the Earth is desolate, and Satan is bound. Afterward, Christ and His followers return to Earth, and the unrighteous are resurrected, only to be consumed by divine fire. This purges the universe of sin forever (Rev. 20).

Purpose of the Millennium

The Millennium involves going through God's records of humanity to understand His judgments. God’s people will confirm His righteousness and justice. Meanwhile, Satan, confined to Earth, has no one to deceive.

How Sin Ends

Revelation describes sin's end with Satan's final defeat. After the Millennium, Satan deceives the resurrected wicked, who attack the holy city. They are consumed by fire from heaven. Satan is destroyed permanently, ending sin and evil.

Impact of the Millennium Today

The Millennium provides hope and motivation to share the Gospel. It assures us that evil will not prevail and that God will restore the world, making it a better home for us with Him. Knowing this future encourages us to live righteously and anticipate a renewed world.
