Belief #28. New Earth

On the new earth, in which righteousness dwells, God will provide an eternal home for the redeemed and a perfect environment for everlasting life, love, joy, and learning in His presence. For here God Himself will dwell with His people, and suffering and death will have passed away. The great controversy will be ended, and sin will be no more. All things, animate and inanimate, will declare that God is love; and He shall reign forever. Amen...

At Jesus’ Second Coming, believers both alive and resurrected will join Him in heaven for 1,000 years (the Millennium). During this time, they will learn from Jesus about the reasons behind His judgements. Afterward, the earth will be cleansed of evil and sin. God will then create a New Earth, an eternal home free from sin, suffering, or death, as promised in Isaiah 65:17.

The New Earth

  1. Nature: It will be a restored earth, free from sin, where God will dwell among His people.
  2. Who Will Live There: The redeemed, those who accept God's gift of salvation, will inhabit it.
  3. Appearance: New Earth will have a harmonious creation, where all creatures live in peace.
  4. Significance: Not just a reward but a restoration of God's original plan for humanity.

Living in the New Earth

Believers will experience everlasting joy and a personal relationship with God. The real reward is not just the paradise itself, but being able to live in the presence of God, as expressed in John 14:1-3 and 1 Corinthians 2:9.

The New Earth represents the end of sin and the fulfilment of salvation. The Seventh-day Adventists look forward to this as the ultimate restoration of God's perfect creation.
