God Says:
The Serpent Says:
1. Adam and Eve did not certainly die, at least not until almost a millennium of living.
2. Genesis 3:22: "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil." This is exactly what the Serpent claimed.
It seems like the serpent was right to a great extent, and God was not.
So, what exactly was Eve's fault? She did not have the knowledge of good and bad (evil) at this point, and it is only by eating the fruit, in fact, after Adam ate the fruit, that they got this knowledge.
Someone help me understand this.
- The LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die".
The Serpent Says:
- You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
