Spirituality and physical health are directly linked; trusting in God can lead to making the right choices and resisting temptation. Although we can make choices for a healthy lifestyle, we often have weaknesses that lead us back to old habits. It is important to acknowledge these weaknesses and seek strength from something or someone to overcome setbacks. While friends can provide encouragement, there is a God that we can rely on for assistance.

Throughout history, individuals have experienced improved physical, mental, and spiritual health through seeking divine help. The Scriptures contain valuable principles for leading a healthy life and research in modern science aligns with these principles. Trusting in God is a sure way of finding relief as Christ himself call on all who are weary and heavy laden to find rest in Him (Matthew 11:28). The benefits of trusting in God on health and well-being can be summarized as:
  1. Spiritual Well-being: Human beings are spiritual beings and trusting in God fosters a deep sense of spiritual well-being. It acknowledges that our lives are in the hands of a higher power and that we can find peace, comfort, and guidance through our faith. Nurturing our spiritual connection with God can provide a sense of purpose, hope, and resilience in the face of challenges.
  2. Emotional Health: Trusting in God is free therapy for emotional burdens we bear as it provides a source of solace and support in difficult times. It offers a sense of security, knowing that we are deeply loved and cared for by a higher power. Through prayer, meditation, and cultivating a relationship with God, we can find comfort, healing, and inner peace. Seeking divine wisdom and discernment in important life choices will help us to make decisions that align with our highest values and purposes. Trusting God's plan can alleviate indecisiveness and empower us to move forward with confidence.
  3. Surrendering Control: Trust in God involves surrendering control and humbly accepting that our lives are in God's hands. It teaches us to let go of the need to control every aspect of our lives, freeing us from unnecessary burdens and allowing us to experience God's grace, mercy, and power working in our lives. This perspective helps reduce stress and anxiety by shifting the burden of worry and uncertainty from our shoulders to the loving care of God. Putting our trust in God can bring a sense of peace, knowing that we are not alone in navigating life's trials.
  4. Hope and Resilience: Trusting in God instills a sense of hope and resilience. It reminds us that even in the midst of challenges, God is with us, providing comfort, strength, and guidance. Trusting in God's faithfulness and promises allows us to weather life's storms with courage and perseverance.
The timeless Scriptures contain valuable principles for leading a healthy life. God wishes us good health and prosperity in all dimensions of our life (see 3 John 2). Recent research has continued to unearth the benefits of spirituality on overall health. By adhering to the eight principles outlined in this classroom, we can enjoy a higher level of vitality. A healthy diet enables us to think more clearly, and a clear mind helps us make sound choices and maintain pure thoughts on a spiritual level. Preserving our mental purity keeps our bodies in shape, completing the cycle of desiring good nutrition, exercise, water, sunshine, temperance, fresh air, and rest.
