For our ons soul's sake RECKON it dead.part 2
Are we having relations with the dead? Hmm? If the old man is crucified , why than does it continue living after our baptism?
It seems to be less than profitable to talk about who is right and who is wrong. (that would be standing under the wrong tree). Whether the old man is dead or not, the important thing is what does God have to say about it. He says it is dead and you have been raised up to sit together with Him. Should I look around and say to Him, "That's not true I'm in Arizona and it's hot." Even if we feel that it isn't dead we are to reckon it dead. God speaks in absolutes If he looks at us as incomplete then that is all that we will be. I believe that His look is creative. He must see His work in us as complete. His word speaks completeness. He just asks us to agree with Him."... not made brand new at your baptism. "
I looked up in the lexicon and there is no mention of renewed. But again Rob, you are being distracted from your escape rout by this line of discussion. If you want to think that the old man is alive that is fine but you are told to reckon it dead.Rob” That word “new” is not “neos” it is “kainos” meaning “re-newed” NOT “brand new”
Precisely!"I am getting stumped"
Does this work for you? Your belief must be challenged daily for it to grow.
Rob” You see faith more AS A NOUN, not as a verb as I do.
Rob, I can't spell for beans and if there wasn't spell check you would think I was from the back woods. I transpose numbers too. So, noun, verb, past participle, double entendre.... I know not. However we both know that we must believe God's word and trust Him to bring to pass what He has promised. Also we should follow His instructions even when it seems the logical.
My motivation for pressing the point that we are indeed dead it's because it closes the door on the erroneous Babylonian teachings of, "Well, you're still weak and you will still sin from time to time but keep your sins confessed up-to-date. You are only human and there's no hope that you'll ever stop sinning until Jesus comes.
There is so much I wish to share but we are being bogged down on this matter.
