Manna in Angola - miracle, sign, or something else? What do you think?

Chief

Chief of Sinners.
Hi everyone, I watched a short video about the Seventh-day Adventist mission work in Angola (campaign: “Luanda for Christ”) and wanted to open a respectful, curious conversation here. Below is a very short recap and a list of questions to guide our discussion. Please share thoughts, personal experience, questions, or any evidence (links, photos, first-hand accounts) you might have.

Quick recap

  • The SID’s evangelistic push is focused on Luanda and southern Angola; baptisms are reportedly rising sharply.
  • A dramatic testimony: Sister Idalina survived a violent robbery when a bullet missed her after prayer - her story is used to highlight divine protection.
  • At a mission station in southern Angola, manna has reportedly been “falling” since 1945. People say it’s sweet, appears mostly on Wednesdays and Fridays, stops in the rains, and has returned since the station was rebuilt after the civil war.
  • The manna is described as a spiritual barometer: white and sweet when the community is faithful; red and bitter when members fall into sin. A dedication event in 2010 reportedly cause the ground to be covered with large quantities of it.
  • The narrative ties the phenomenon to biblical parallels (Israel’s manna), community revival, and spiritual accountability.
What kinds of evidence would you find convincing (scientific analysis of samples, independent eyewitness reports, historical records, etc.)? Is it fair to ask for such evidence, or does that miss the point for matters of faith?

If you check the link I wrote massive about it and collected the whole story and even emailed the Pastor in the mission.
I wanted to check what faith was in the local village, so to ascertain how they receive such miracles by faith - and it seems a little girl aged 4 did most of the faith process that God rewarded her for it. The village people are poor, simple and always fasting, a prerequisite for faith/ - I would love to go there and check it out myself

What did you get from the story Chief?

It is certainly a fascinating video, with incredible claims regarding miracles (something that is common all over the world where Christianity is common, but primarily in Africa and South America). I would ask the following:
  1. Do you believe all the other miracles by the various Christian denominations, or is it just this one because it is associated with Adventists/
  2. Based on the video, it seems like God is not providing enough manna for the people, and in some cases, He provides "bitter ones" and "red ones instead of white ones" (12:35 - 13:15), especially when, and I quote, "Someone in the congregation lives not according to what God approves." Is this consistent with the God you believe?
  3. When a lot of manna was dropped from heaven, covering even the mountain: "All the ground was covered with manna" (08:00 - 08:30), the villagers were afraid to go collect it, and only children went. Do you believe hungry people were so afraid of the miracle to the point of refusing to partake of it? And would this not defeat the purpose of sending manna in the first place?
  4. And why is it that when a bullet doesn't kill someone, it is a miracle, and when thousands of people die because of similar bullets, it is: "God works in mysterious ways?"
And @Chief, I think it is fair to ask for as much evidence as possible, especially today when miracles are supposedly happening everywhere. I would personally wish to see similar miracles to those performed by Jesus and his disciples. There are plenty of blind, lame, mute, and all kinds of disabled, and I would really love to see miracles in such cases, with evidence, such as hospital records.

Greetings Chomsky

(1) I believe in miracles - I get at least 4 to 5 private miracles every day from Jesus. But you would consider them co-incidence, or doubt or similar. If you want to get miracles of His grace, impute His Divine power into you daily as you request it, I would consider you reading my link - about something the Lord showed me -

And

(2) Yes the red manna is because some members are sinning, such as adultery and the white is a sign the Lord sees all the people of one accord in His grace.

Is this consistent? Yes, God is kind. What I find amazing is he sent the manna based on the faith of a 5 year old girl. The other members have questionable faith?

(3) Public miracles would be a big deal, and have me scared too - private miracles in one thing - but public miracles is a higher level of faith - usually requires fasting and fervent prayer.

(4) Yes many of us do things with mouse water, a term PNG describe as skin 7 day people, who dabble in faith but still God rewards them. It is better to do genuine faith and learn the process - hence the above links.
I too was dabbling in faith for 45 years too, like any SDA - and I thank the Lord for finally showing me genuine faith as a process.

I would suggest the best miracle to practice is hearing God talk to you daily in your conscience.
Claim this prayer promise if your faith in God is silent:

Isa 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

"Lord let me hear your voice behind me, Amen"

Shalom
