Urgent Relief Efforts for California Wildfires: Where to Find Support and How You Can Help

As devastating wildfires ravage communities across Los Angeles County, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has partnered with Adventist Community Services (ACS) to offer crucial support to those affected. The Pacific Palisades Fire, ignited on January 7, has grown into one of the most catastrophic events in Los Angeles history, affecting numerous areas, including Eaton, the Sunset/Runyon Canyon area, and Woodland Hills.

More than 39,000 acres have been scorched, with over 12,000 homes and businesses reduced to rubble and ashes. The fires have claimed at least 24 lives, forced nearly 180,000 residents to evacuate, and left many missing. With ferocious winds exceeding 70 mph fueling the flames, the situation remains dire, posing further risks to buildings, displacing residents, and disrupting power to hundreds of thousands.

ADRA and ACS are on the ground, committed to providing immediate aid and long-term recovery support to impacted communities. Imad Madanat, ADRA International Vice President for Humanitarian Affairs, emphasized the importance of unity in these trying times, highlighting the agency's determination to ensure families receive the urgent help they need.
