NEWSTART - Principles of Healthy Living

The NEWSTART program is a scientifically researched lifestyle change program that is monitored by physicians. It is based on eight fundamental principles that are proven to help you achieve optimum health. The principles are described in detail in the lesson modules but here is the summary:
  1. Nutrition: A balanced diet is crucial for overall health. Consuming a variety of nutrient-rich foods can help prevent diseases and promote overall health.
  2. Exercise: Regular physical activity strengthens the heart, improves circulation, and can help reduce the risk of diseases. It also enhances mood and boosts energy levels.
  3. Water: Staying hydrated is essential for health. Water aids in digestion, absorption, circulation, and maintenance of body temperature.
  4. Sunlight: Moderate exposure to sunlight helps the body produce Vitamin D, which is essential for bone health and immune function.
  5. Temperance: This involves adopting good habits such as getting regular sleep, eating a balanced diet, and avoiding harmful substances like tobacco and alcohol.
  6. Air: Clean air is essential for respiratory health. Practices such as deep breathing exercises can improve lung capacity and overall health.
  7. Rest: Adequate rest and good quality sleep are vital for health. They allow the body to repair itself and the mind to rejuvenate.
  8. Trust in God: Spiritual wellness is also a part of overall well-being. Trust and faith can provide a sense of purpose and peace.
The journey to optimum health is a gradual process which involves making small changes to your lifestyle and being consistent with them. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new health program.
