The Book of Mark

In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus is revealed as the Messiah and Son of God. Despite this, there is secrecy surrounding His identity, known as the Messianic Secret. The first half of the book focuses on the question of who Jesus is, with Peter eventually declaring Him as the Christ. The second half reveals the shocking truth that Jesus is heading to the cross for salvation. The disciples struggle to understand this, leading to a stark contrast between their expectations and reality. Jesus ultimately dies and rises again, symbolised through the Last Supper, showing the cost of salvation. The Gospel of Mark presents a concise and powerful narrative of the life and death of Jesus.
